Fashionable Finds for Food

When you travel the first thing that strikes your mind is... shopping? Or is it food? -- of course there is the possibility of sights and excursions, but that's not what we're going to discuss today. I would hope it to be food. Why? Fashion comes and goes like the wind, you cannot expect it to lead you where you want to go you can only follow; therefore, fashion is unpredictable. Fashion is like food, unpredictable. It can lead your taste buds on that excursion you had been wishing for or it can lead you down that alley your parents told you to stay clear of. The only way to know for sure which road to go down is to try-it-all. I mean it! You cannot and should not ever put food aside because you don't like this, or you don't like that, or this has too much of this, or that has something you don't like. When you travel the food itself is the essence of the country.

Let's go to Rome. The Vatican City, the capital of Italy. Busy. Busy. Busy. So what do you see...? Yes that's right, that's a McDonalds in Rome. That's not the only one either. A brisk walk at night reveals the equivalent of Starbucks in the streets of New York, every turn you take. There are even signs. Why? Beats me. Why would you eat that? At home my mom makes rice every day. I mean EVERY DAY, rice with chicken. Rice with curry, Rice with chili, rice with vegetables, rice rice rice. Italy I would think sways more towards pasta. But there are so many things that can be done that I never understand anyone stooping to the level of the unedifying feeling when your lying in bed as your intestines yell at you about eating that Big Mac.

So what should you have? FOOD. And not fast food either. Food t
hat was made to satisfy. Amazingly I am not joking when I say this f
ood over-satisfies. You have your pre-appetizer (to the right), appetizer (to the left), followed by bread. you always have to have bread. (as shown below top left). Followed by your pre-entrée (the pasta on the very bottom left), then your entree (the veal and potatoes below on the top right), then your dessert. There was no end to the majesty that was the food. No end and everything was FRESH. Nothing mass produced. Dug out of the good earth and put on your plate so the flavors make your pallet to dance.

Everything was to die for, and literally made you want to just fall into those food comas you hear so much about. Fashion requires inspiration, food requires you to feel inspired.
